- Louis Prima, Jr. (Las Vegas, 16 juni 1965) is een Amerikaanse zanger, trompettist en bandleider. Prima is het jongste kind en de enige zoon van de zanger en bandleider Louis Prima. Toen hij vijf was begon hij te drummen. Ook trad hij toen voor het eerst op, zijn vader liet hem on stage een liedje van Three Dog Night zingen. Toen hij acht was ging hij piano spelen, later kwamen daar onder meer de trompet en de gitaar bij. Aanvankelijk wilde hij een loopbaan in de financiële wereld beginnen, maar na enkele keren met zijn zus Lena en haar groep the Witnesses te hebben gezongen, ging hij fulltime optreden. In 1987 begon hij een eigen rockgroep, Problem Child. In 1995 besloot hij zijn muzikale loopbaan te wijden aan de muziek van zijn vader. Hij werkte enige tijd parttime op het vliegveld van Las Vegas, tot hij besloot de groep the Witnesses opnieuw op te richten. Born four days before Father’s Day 1965, Louis Prima Jr. is the youngest child and only son of musician and entertanier Louis Prima. His mother and Louis Sr.’s widow, Gia Maione, began performing with Sr. in 1962.
His mother taught Louis to play the drums at 5 years old; his father put him on stage at age 5, at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas, when Sam Butera shouted those familiar words, “and now, the man who plays pretty for the people… Louis Prima!” Louis Jr., with trumpet in hand, walked onto the stage to a sea of laughter. Later that same night, Louis and his sister Lena floored the crowd with a rousing, “Prima-ized” version of the Three Dog Night hit “Joy to the World.” This would not be the only time that he would “trick” the fans, walking onstage in place of his father, nor would it be the his only time sharing the stage with his father and The Witnesses.
