    He was born in 1951 in Sarajevo and graduated editing at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in 1989. He taught editing at the Academy of Performing Arts until 2020. His rich filmography as an editor includes feature films, including: “Djeca”, “Do not forget me Istanbul”, “Snijeg”, “Ljubav na granici”, “Kardinal od Bosne i Hercegovine” and “Smrt u Sarajevu”  and short feature films: “Kako je Ilija Ladin predavao Njemački”, “Snovi”, “Sjever je poludio”, “Naprijed, nazad”, “Prvo smrtno iskustvo” i “Kako je pukao Pjer Žalica”, also including short documentaries: “Tiše”, “Heroin”, “Očima vojnika”, “Dnevnik graditelja”, “Povratak”, “Slike s ugla”, “Sjećaš li se Sarajeva?”, “Crvene gumene čizme”, “Insert iz nebodera”, “Tragovi zla”, “Portret umjetnika u ratu”, “Križni put u Sarajevu”, “Osam godina kasnije”, “Vatre Sarajeva” and “Karta za prošlost”.

He edited more than 30 short, documentary and feature films, including Jasmila Žbanić’s Builder’s Diary (Deblokada, 2007) and Red Rubber Boots (Deblokada, 2001), as well as Miroslav Mandić’s Borderline Lovers (SCCA/pro.ba, 2005).

    He worked as an editor at the Bosnian TV for 17 years, where he edited 14 dramas, three films, three fiction TV series, and various documentary films, and where he was also Head of Editors Department, and Head of Education Programme.

    Miralem Zubčević was awarded the Ivica Matić Award for outstanding contribution to Bosnian and Herzegovinian film by the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2012.
